Euro Integration in the Region

European integration in the region is a process of bringing local authorities and the region into line with the standards, principles and practices of the European Union. It encompasses the development of local self-government, the strengthening of institutional capacity, the adoption of European approaches to governance, transparency and openness, strategic planning, the mobilisation of international funding and the implementation of joint projects.

European integration at regional level also involves developing international partnerships, exchanging experience with European communities and creating the conditions for communities to participate in European programmes and initiatives.

Its main objective is to strengthen the capacity of communities, improve the quality of governance and create the conditions for the region’s sustainable development in line with European approaches and standards.
