Ukraine is ready to open all five negotiation clusters with the EU as early as this summer, says Lobun, advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister on European Integration
Ukraine is technically ready to open all five clusters of negotiations on accession to the European Union and is awaiting a political decision from the member states
Viktoria Lobun, advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, spoke about this on the “European Integration” program with Yuriy Fizer.
According to her, the European Commission has already confirmed Ukraine's readiness to open the remaining negotiation clusters.
“I’m going to be optimistic here and say that we’ll be able to open all five clusters. We really hope it will happen this summer. What’s more, we have confirmation from the European Commission that Ukraine is ready to open all the remaining clusters. In other words, technically speaking, we’re absolutely ready for this—that’s for sure,” she said.
Viktoria Lobun noted that Ukraine’s National Program for the Adaptation of Legislation to EU Law has been in effect since April 1. This strategic document contains 1,875 tasks and calls for the adoption of over 300 laws necessary for progress toward EU membership.
“As of April 1, we have adopted the National Program for the Adaptation of Legislation—that is, our comprehensive strategic document—which serves as a roadmap for how we move forward. It covers 1,875 tasks, if I’m not mistaken, and over 300 laws that need to be adopted. In other words, it’s a detailed roadmap toward technical readiness for membership. We have this roadmap, and we are also ready to open all negotiation clusters. We are now hoping for this political decision and political will from the EU member states,” she concluded.
